Witch firm picks global marketer

EC De Witt, which makes the Witch skincare brand, has promoted UK marketing director David Fowler to the new position of global brand director for skincare.

The role has been created as part of a restructure following the departure of managing director John James. It is not known whether James has a job to go to, and he has not been directly replaced.

International marketing director Stefan York has been given responsibility for the company’s oral care division. As global brand director for oral care, York will be responsible for the Clinomyn Smokers’ Toothpaste range.

Fowler will be responsible for three of EC De Witt’s four products: the Cymex cold sore range; Formula 16 hair colourant and Witch, formerly called Witch Doctor.

Fowler and York report to EC De Witt’s US parent company, CB Fleet.

Last year, Red Cell created a &£3.5m TV campaign for the Witch skincare range, with the tagline “Witch helps make bad-skin days a thing of the past”. The campaign was Red Cell’s first work for the brand since it won the EC De Witt business from McCann-Erickson in 2000.

The Witch range, which is based on witch-hazel extract, includes face wash, body wash, clear pore gel, daily cleansing lotion, skin treatment gel and sun sore soothing gel.
