Independent plans raft of supplements

Independent Solutions, the planning and creative division of The Independent’s advertising sales team, has put together a £600,000 package of sponsored supplements for Saturday’s edition of the paper.

The package will be The Independent’s biggest collection of sponsored sections and includes the largest advertising space offered by a broadsheet – a Renault-sponsored eight-page double-gatefold site.

The Design Velocity supplement will promote Renault’s Avantime and Vel Satis models and was developed to a brief from Carat. The section carries editorial material on design in art, fashion and architecture and opens out into an advertisement for the cars, measuring 140cm by 54cm.

The Independent will also include a 56-page travel magazine, sponsored by Teletext Holidays and based on the newspaper’s “48 Hours in ” travel section; a 20-page pull-out supplement, sponsored by Lattice Group, showcasing work from graduates of the Royal College of Art; and a World Cup supplement sponsored by JVC.

The recent Press Advertising Summit 2002, organised by Marketing Week (MW May 2) raised the concerns of clients regarding creative advertising ideas and greater contact with newspaper sales teams.
