Chanel signs UK head of marketing
French fashion, fragrance and cosmetics company Chanel has appointed former Lancôme marketer Dominic De Vetta as UK marketing director.
De Vetta joins the company after a three-year stint at Conran Restaurants, where he was sales and marketing director until early last year. De Vetta was marketing director at cosmetics company Lancôme until 1998 and has held various positions at L’Oréal and Procter & Gamble.
Chanel has been looking for a UK marketing director since March, following the resignation of head of marketing Meryl Armitage.
Armitage was poached by Chanel’s rival Estée Lauder to oversee its UK brand communications, including implementing creative work developed in the US. She had previously worked as marketing manager on Estée Lauder’s sister brand Clinique.
De Vetta developed a relationship marketing strategy for Lancôme and developed Conran Restaurants’ first customer loyalty card.
