The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is funding a series of mini-TV programmes on real life issues in the workplace called Worksmart.
Under a deal struck with Granada Enterprises Commercial Ventures, 26 programmes lasting 45-seconds each will air on ITV from July 1, six days a week until the end of the year in the Granada, Meridian, Anglia and Border regions.
Each programme will feature a worker with his or her story about an accident or health issue in the workplace and will offer a solution.
Martin Lowde, sponsorship and licensing director at Granada Enterprises says: “This represents a good example of innovative use of TV media and shows Granada is keen to develop new and alternative relationships with customers.”
Peter Rimmer, director of information at the HSE says: “It is vital to create novel methods of communication in health and safety messages to both management and employees.”
“For the second year running the HSE and Granada have created a series on health and safety in the workplace”.
Manchester-based advertising and marketing agency Portfolio worked with independent TV producer Unique Factuals to create the series.
