Those hubcaps clash with the lampshade

Now nobody likes a bit of luxury more than the Diary, but this little tale illustrates that sometimes the pursuit of comfort can be taken a bit too far.

To promote the launch of the Mini Cooper S, those crazy guys at Cunning Stunts (told you they were crazy) have been visiting supermarkets around the country to create luxury parking spaces. The spaces, which have been quite a distraction to some particularly ovine shoppers, are adorned with sumptuous deep-pile rugs, soft lighting, designer wallpaper and paintings.

Now, such tomfoolery may be the stuff of a good promotional stunt, but the Diary feels that this particular Cunning Stunt raises questions of practicality – who’s going to scrub the oil and tyre marks out of the carpet?
