Dennis launches combined IT Web portal

Dennis Interactive (DI), the multimedia arm of Dennis Publishing, has launched an IT portal, backed by an investment of more than £1m.

The site, pcpro.co.uk, brings together the content and audiences of four of the UK’s leading IT brands: PC Pro, Computer Shopper, Computer Buyer and MacUser.

It also integrates daily news from theregister.co.uk; over 30,000 products and prices from leading UK retailers Dabs, Jungle, Technomatic and Watford Electronics; and a range of PCs and laptops from major brands.

According to DI managing director Guy Sneesby, the site is the UK’s first broad-based IT portal, integrating content from a variety of sources and delivering comprehensive personalisation tools.

He says: “Our IT sites have a combined audience of more than 400,000 unique users a month. We expect to approach 500,000 soon after launch, which will make us one of the UK’s biggest IT websites.”

Peter Wootton, associate publisher of Dennis’s IT websites, says pcpro.co.uk can deliver customised ads targeted at 430 different demographic and lifestyle variables.

He says: “This will remove the need to buy ads based on demographics from surveys, and allow targeting based on individual user data.”
