Ex-Brookside star looks for tour sponsor

Former Brookside actress and star of Celebrity Big Brother Claire Sweeney is seeking sponsors for her debut concert tour, which begins next spring.

Shalit Global Management is offering a sponsorship package to a “family-friendly” sponsor.

Sweeney, who has also starred in the West End show Chicago, has raised her profile and developed a musical career since appearing in Celebrity Big Brother last year.

On July 15 she released an album called Claire, after signing a deal with Telstar. The album, which features guest stars such as Queen’s Brian May, has reached the Top 20 chart.

Sweeney’s manager says that she would be available to endorse a sponsor’s products, and any deal would offer the opportunity to profile brand imagery.

He says: “We are not targeting the cutting edge youth market, Claire’s appeal is very much to the family.”

Sweeney has already fronted a Marks & Spencer lingerie campaign, and Shalit is in negotiation with a number of brands, including Matalan, which are considering using Sweeney in promotional activity.

Shalit is the former agent of child singer Charlotte Church, and recently won &£2m in an out-of-court settlement over a breach of contract claim. He also manages former Pop Idols contestant Rik Waller.

Sweeney has had her own ITV Saturday night show and recently hosted two episodes of TV holiday show Wish You Were Here.
