The virtual office has four rubber tyres. Not many people know this astonishing fact, other than Chris Wood, head of Corporate Edge, and Mike Detsiny, marketing director of the CIM.
Wood had scheduled a meeting with Detsiny at the Reform Club in Pall Mall early one morning. Sensibly, he powered himself there on one of the high-speed motorbikes he favours. Car-bound Detsiny, on the other hand, was left flailing apoplectically in nearby Trafalgar Square, gridlocked inches short of the car park.
A frantic mobile phone call provided the solution: Wood and Detsiny held the hour-long meeting there and then, in the car. All credit to the lateral thinking, but it can’t have done much to alleviate the traffic congestion.
