Bauer title launch taps into New Age interests

H Bauer is launching a New Age therapy monthly magazine next month code-named Project Rosie. The women’s magazine, which goes on the shelves on September 3, is understood to be called Fate and Fortune.

The saddle-stitched title will be launched with an initial print-run of 150,000 and is expected to be priced at about &£2.50. It aims to be a “holistic” magazine for women interested in supernatural phenomena and how to read tarot cards.

This will be Bauer’s second launch this year, since the roll out of the women’s fortnightly Real just under a year ago. The magazine’s first Audit Bureau of Circulations figure for June to December 2001 posted a circulation of 173,988, short of its guaranteed circulation of 200,000.

Earlier this year, the publisher launched a pre-teen title called Blush! The launch marked Bauer’s return into the pre-teen market, following the closure of its teen weekly Enjoy! in 1997.

Project Rosie will fill in the gap left by the closure of Know Your Destiny, a News International title aimed at young women. Launched in 1999, the title exploited the popularity of its News of the World’s prophetess Mystic Meg.
