MyTravel to open themed hotel to support Disneyland

MyTravel is opening its first themed hotel near Disneyland Paris in March next year.

The theme of the 390-bedroomed Explorers Hotel is based on the adventures of a fictional 17th century adventurer called Sir Archibald de Bacle.

Disney provided informal advice on the construction and theming of the hotel, which will provide much-needed bed capacity to serve the Disney theme parks in France. The hotel interior is designed as de Bacle’s manor house and is packed with nautical memorabilia.

The family hotel features in MyTravel’s Bridge Disneyland Resort Paris, and Cresta Explore The Magic brochures – available from Monday (August 19). MyTravel’s Leger brochure will also feature the property in its Disneyland Paris edition out next month.

MyTravel global development division marketing services director John Bellenger says: “We thought our hotel had to be in-line with other Disney hotels and so is themed.” He adds that the MyTravel branding will be low key and “fairly subtle”.

MyTravel owns 125 properties run as resort hotels in the Mediterranean. Bellenger says that there are no plans to roll out the Explorers concept in the short term, but if it proves successful, MyTravel could talk to theme parks in the US and elsewhere about the concept.

The MyTravelLite low-cost airline, launched by MyTravel, begins flights to Paris Beauvais airport in October. Bellenger confirms that the company is considering running coach transfers to the Explorers Hotel.
