Golley Slater Brooker wins Transco brief

Gas pipeline operator Transco has appointed Birmingham-based Golley Slater Brooker to handle its creative and media accounts, which are worth an estimated &£500,000, following a competitive pitch against Bates UK, Redman Jones and Connect Point. The decision follows a statutory business review.

HHCL & Partners and MediaCom held the account previously.

The gas pipeline company concentrates its advertising around safety awareness campaigns during the Christmas period, reminding the public that its gas emergency services operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Last year, Transco ran a variation on the campaign on major Asian TV channels for the first time. The campaign, which avoided any references to Christmas, ran on AsiaNet, Sony TV and the RTV Network.

Transco demerged from British Gas two years ago. The company, which is now part of Lattice Group, is responsible for the delivery and maintenance of gas supplies and for providing emergency cover.

Lattice announced its &£15bn merger with National Grid, which owns the electricity transmission system in England and Wales, earlier this month.
