International money transfer service Western Union is reviewing its &£1m media planning and buying account – held by MediaVest – as part of an overall review of existing agencies.

Western Union has not yet invited agencies to pitch for the business but it is believed MediaVest will be invited to repitch.

The review follows the recent appointment of Marc Audrit as director of marketing services for Western Europe.

Audrit has abandoned plans to review the company’s creative account, held by D’Arcy in the UK. He was initially planning to review all agencies but says advertising will be excluded. He says: “We are reassessing all of our agencies, but have now decided we will retain D’Arcy.”

Audrit was appointed in July to replace Roger Ringwood, who left the company earlier this year. It is believed he did not have a job to go to. Audrit will be responsible for establishing Western Union’s brand strategy across western Europe. He has worked at several creative agencies, including D’Arcy, Lintas, DDB and Publicis.

Last year Western Union had a global turnover of &£1.7bn – an annual sales growth of 16.9 per cent.
