Matalan boss Doubles team of marketers

Matalan’s new marketing director Euan Sutherland has restructured the marketing team, creating five divisions and more than doubling its size to 45 people.

Sutherland, who was marketing director at Currys before joining Matalan, has also poached two marketers from his former employer.

Mark Craigie has joined from the electrical retailer, where he was head of business development. He has been made director of innovations, with responsibility for delivering new initiatives, driving new business and category planning. Simon Webster also joins from Currys, where he was head of marketing services. He becomes customer and marketing services manager, responsible for central customer services, in-store point-of-purchase material and signage.

In addition, Matalan menswear buying controller Jamey Hargreaves has been promoted to director of category and brand marketing. He will be responsible for product category marketing plans for brands such as Lee Cooper and Falmer.

Matalan head of marketing Mike Morrison has been made head of consumer insight and will be responsible for managing the membership database and interpreting buying behaviour.

All four marketers will report to Sutherland.
