Plain sailing for some in marketing

Along with many people in advertising last week, the Diary was wondering what the connection was between P&O Ferries – the advertiser with a &£7m budget – and Link ICA – the regional ad agency that, until last week, only had &£5m in annual billings, with clients like the Kent Agricultural Society and Gamely’s Toy Shop.

Well, wonder no longer! (Drum roll, please.) The Diary’s investigative team has solved the riddle. P&O marketing chief John Govett recently married Link ICA managing director Annette Davies-Govett.

When the Diary enquired at P&O’s press office, just to make sure that what it was hearing was correct, it was assured the decision was approved by the board of directors.

So all the Diary has left to say is: congratulations on tying the knot, Annette and John. And to ask: was there a pre-nuptial agreement of any kind?
