Aveda on the lookout for head of marketing

Beauty company Aveda is looking for its first head of marketing to oversee the brand’s retail and salon divisions in the UK and Europe.

Until now, marketing for the two divisions has been handled by marketing co-ordinators. The new recruit will take charge of marketing for the entire Aveda range in the UK and oversee part of the company’s European business.

Marketing co-ordinator for the retail division, Tanya Davies, and marketing co-ordinator for salons, Myra Matton, will report to the head of marketing when the position is filled. Whoever takes the position will report to Aveda general manager Amanda Le Roux.

Aveda is a division of Estée Lauder. It specialises in natural merchandise, including skin, hair, body and perfume products, and operates a chain of spas and salons.

The company is based in the US and has distributors in Europe and the Asia Pacific. Vice-president of global marketing and design Chris Hacker is in charge of marketing for the brand. Hacker was appointed in July 2001 following the departure of Daria Myers.

Aveda was founded in 1978 by Horst Rechelbacher, who launched the Aveda Institute two years before that. The Aveda Institute is a US-based educational facility for professionals in cosmetology, esthiology, nail technology, the spa industry, body care and massage.
