Contest champ comes up trumps

One or two of you may remember that the Diary launched a competition last month (MW August 16). Readers were invited to send in the best bit

of promotional landfiller they had received, in order to win some tat from the Diary’s collection. The response, frankly, was disappointing. The Diary knows times are tough, but surely some of you could stretch to a stamp?

So, painting a brave smile on its face (a load of free lipstick arrived the other day), the Diary will announce the winner and sole entrant: step up, Merry Smith, of DC Thomson – publisher of the Beano – who sent in this charming, if grubby, whoopee cushion. Thanks too to the good people of Citigate SMARTS, who thought it worth their while to send these things out in the first place. Ms (or Mr) Smith, your prize is on its way. The rest of you? The competition will run for another month, so submit your gubbins now!
