Granada seeks fresh sponsor for SM:TV

ITV’s Saturday morning children’s show SM:TV Live is searching for a new sponsor as KFC’s year-long sponsorship comes to an end.

The fast-food giant’s sponsorship expires in November and KFC has yet to decide whether or not to renew the deal.

Last year, KFC paid about &£1.3m for the broadcast sponsorship, online support and the launch of an interactive package on ITV Digital and SMS services.

Granada Enterprises Commercial Ventures is searching for a company that is prepared to pay &£650,000 for the broadcast sponsorship, which will run for a year and include 52 programmes.

A spokeswoman for the company suggests that the sponsorship would be suitable for a food or children’s brand.

Separately, Five – formerly known as Channel 5 – has signed a deal with Coors Brewers brand Carling, which will sponsor Live with Chris Moyles, the channel’s new early-evening entertainment show. The sponsorship package includes opening credits, closing credits and break bumpers. In addition, Carling will receive sponsorship exposure on Five’s website. BBJ head of sponsorship Daliah Epstein and Five head of sponsorship Jonathan Lewis negotiated the deal.

The programme will be broadcast on weekday evenings at 7pm from September 23 and will run for 13 weeks. It has been created for Five by UMTV and its executive producer is Chris Evans.
