Woollams in cancer glossy title launch

Chris Woollams, founder and former chief executive of ad agency Woollams Moira Gaskin O’Malley (WMGO) – now reincarnated as Incepta – has launched a monthly magazine aimed at cancer patients and their families.

The magazine, called Icon, is being published by Woollams’ new publishing company, Health Issues.

Icon was initially introduced as a pilot publication in July this year, and appeared as a 24-page monthly glossy in August.

Woollams says he is looking for sponsors.

The title is priced at £4, and Health Issues plans to launch a website, allyouneedtoknowaboutcancer.com, in October.

Woollams was known as one of the marketing industry’s most outspoken figures. Before founding WMGO, he was a managing director at Publicis. He was reported to have been sacked as London chairman of Bates after describing the US network’s merger with Saatchi & Saatchi as “management by Sellotape”.

WMGO was launched in 1987 and went public in 1994. The following year, the agency went into receivership. WMGO adopted the Incepta name in 1995.
