BT Retail replaces chief in shake-up as Evans moves

BT Retail’s consumer division has appointed Fergus Crockett as marketing director. He replaces Tim Evans who has moved to head the small to medium enterprises (SME) business (MW August 22).

Formerly director of marketing operations and sales, Crockett was in charge of delivering campaigns, managing channel partners and direct marketing. Now his role has been expanded to include responsibility for marketing strategies, pricing, and proposition development. “He now has end-to-end responsibility from strategy to execution,” says managing director of the consumer division, Angus Porter.

The departure of Evans to the SME arm prompted Porter to reassess the structure of BT Retail’s consumer division. Accompanying Crockett’s promotion is an enlarged role for Michael Johnson, previously director of new ventures, who has been developing projects such as BT’s micropayments scheme and its home computing initiative. He now has additional responsibility for building brand extensions and revenue outside BT Retail’s core consumer telephony market.

Emma Sanderson, who was initially recruited to head BT Retail’s broadband project, has had her role as a member of Porter’s team made permanent. Judy Dee, who formerly headed the team developing propositions and pricing, has been moved to an unnamed assignment in BT Retail. Amanda MacKenzie remains as director of marketing services for the BT Group.

Crockett has worked at BT for 15 years but has spent the past seven specialising in marketing. Prior to his position as marketing operations and sales director, Crockett was head of propositions for the consumer division.
