NTL’s Stephen Carter linked to EMAP chief executive role

Stephen Carter, NTL’s managing director and chief operating officer for UK and Ireland, has been linked with a number of high-profile jobs, including EMAP chief executive.

Carter is understood to have been contacted about the EMAP role, which is currently filled by Robin Miller who is retiring next summer. It is believed that discussions about the post have taken place within the past month or so and have progressed beyond an initial approach by headhunters. Recent press reports suggest that Malcolm Wall, number two to Lord Hollick at United Business Media, is the front-runner for the EMAP job.

Carter refused to comment on questions relating to his role at NTL and other posts. But an NTL spokesman says: “NTL has never commented on rumour or speculation and this is both.”
