Tennent’s lager ads

The Leith Agency has created new TV ads for Scottish Caledonian’s Tennent’s lager, the last work from the agency before the account moves to Leith breakaway shop Newhaven in January. The ads, part of a &£1.5m campaign breaking in Scotland this week with bus and poster support, are set in a fictitious Scottish-themed bar in Thailand, where transvestite barmaids Rab and Rory serve up traditional Scottish delicacies such as haggis, neeps and satay and Nessie Goreng. The aim of the ads is to stress that Interbrew-owned Tennent’s is an international brand – Tennent’s is exploring a jointpromotion with the Tourism Authority of Thailand. Media buying is by Starcom Motive. Leith was forced to resign the Tennent’s account because its London office handles rival Carling (MW October 3).
