K-C shuffles senior Euro marketers

Kimberly-Clark (K-C) has moved European president for infant and
childcare James Meyer to the newly created role of European head of
marketing and corporate development, as it focuses on growth across
Europe.

Meyer will continue to report to K-C European president Robert Van Der Merwe and will be replaced by vice-president of customer management Ian Jones, who will now have overall responsibility for Huggies in Europe.

A spokeswoman for the company says: “We are still in early stages of discussing Meyer’s new role and what his responsibilities will include.”

K-C promoted Jones to vice-president of customer management last year, as part of a senior team shake-up (MW April 5, 2001). He was formerly vice-president of K-C UK, Ireland and Holland, with responsibility for consumer business and brands. K-C’s brands include Huggies nappies, Andrex toilet paper, Kotex feminine products and Kleenex tissues.

This summer, K-C mounted a challenge to rival Procter & Gamble’s leadership of the disposable nappy market by launching its Huggies Adventurers brand. A TV campaign backing the launch was created by Ogilvy & Mather, with media through MindShare.
