Dell UK & Ireland is searching for a marketing director after Nick Eades left the company last week “to spend more time with his family”.
Eades’ replacement, who has yet to be appointed, will be responsible for the “relationship segment”, which includes large businesses, global clients and public sector companies. Neil Stevens, who joined the company in November 2001 (MW November 22, 2001), oversees marketing for the home and small business division. Martin Boyce, general manager for the Enterprise group, will manage Eades’ team until a permanent appointment is made.
Eades was previously product marketing director, but was promoted to marketing director in March 2001, after the departure of Martyn Lambert (MW March 1, 2001).
In November, Dell ended its relationship with its UK agency cdp-travissully. It has brought online and press advertising in-house and is working with BMP DDB on television campaigns across Europe. DDB Worldwide is its US advertising agency.
In the third quarter of this year, Dell regained the number one position from Hewlett-Packard, which temporarily overtook Dell in sales when it bought Compaq in September 2001.
In addition to computers, Dell has started to sell its own-brand printers and will start selling its own handheld devices in the UK next year.
