British Nuclear Fuels drops cdp-travissully pending review

State-owned nuclear company British Nuclear Fuels (BNFL) has parted company with its advertising agency, cdp-travissully, following the end of the agency’s contract. The company is expected to draw up a list of agencies to pitch for the business.

The energy company refuses to divulge any details about the creative review.

A spokesman for the company says: “At some time in the future we will need another advertising agency, but no pitches have been called as yet.”

In the past, cdp-travissully has created several campaigns to promote BNFL’s recycling work and nuclear science. A campaign to promote nuclear fuel was worth &£5m, and used the tagline: “What kind of science can take a fuel, burn it and turn the ashes back into fuel to burn again?”

The agency has also launched campaigns to demonstrate the company’s policy of openness, through its Sellafield Visitor Centre in Cumbria, but in recent years BNFL has spent very little on corporate advertising.

BNFL provides products and expertise for the nuclear-energy market. Its business activities include making fuel; electricity generation; managing used fuel and cleaning up nuclear facilities.
