Npower has axed Simon Esberger’s role following a restructure. A former BT Cellnet marketer, Esberger has been with the utility company for three years, where he started as the commercial director with responsibility for new product development. He was recently given the new role of customer management director.
Esberger is exploring “other options” within the RWE Group, npower’s parent company. He resigned from Cellnet in 1998 after holding the commercial director’s position for less than six months. Cellnet initially hired him as marketing director in 1997.
As part of the restructure, npower marketing director David Andrew has been given the role of director of brand development and will be responsible for marketing and advertising for both residential and business sectors. Npower has also appointed Thames Water customer services director Chris Johnson to its board as director of operations. Thames Water is a subsidiary of the RWE Group. According to npower the restructure will focus on developing the utility company’s core electricity and gas customer base.
An advertising campaign is being planned to inform customers about the integration of the Yorkshire Electricity and Northern Electric and Northern Gas brands into npower. The two regional brands were acquired in 2001. The campaign will be created by TBWA/London.
