LE Group moves Seeboard Energy marketing boss to top retail role

London Electricity (LE) Group has promoted Seeboard Energy head of residential markets Travers Clarke-Walker to director of marketing for retail.

Clarke-Walker will report to the chief operating officer of the group’s retail business, Derek Lickorish. At Seeboard, Clarke-Walker was responsible for developing a loyalty card scheme and was also responsible for the brand’s retail outlets.

The move has been announced in the middle of a review of LE Group’s &£6m advertising business (MW August 29, 2002). The review was called to develop greater cohesion across LE Group’s portfolio, which includes the LE, Seeboard Energy, Virgin Energy and SWEB brands.

Clarke-Walker’s appointment follows last year’s high-profile departure of group retail managing director Jon Kinsey (MW September 26, 2002) and the subsequent departure of retail marketing director Gary Tubb. Tubb is now sales and marketing director of furniture retailer Courts (MW November 7, 2002).

Late last year, LE group appointed Peter Hofman as managing director for retail and marketing, following the management shake-up (MW December 12, 2002).

The restructure took place a month after the utility group was fined &£2m by energy regulator Ofgem, after a four-month investigation into the direct sales methods used to win new customers.
