CGE&Y launches £25m ad review

Cap Gemini Ernst & Young (CGE&Y) is holding a pitch for its £25m global advertising and media buying and planning accounts.

Cap Gemini Ernst & Young (CGE&Y) is holding a pitch for its £25m global advertising and media buying and planning accounts.

Euro RSCG Wnek Gosper, Grey Worldwide, McCann-Erickson and TBWA Worldwide have been shortlisted for the creative pitch, which is being run out of CGE&Y’s Paris headquarters. It is not yet known which agencies are pitching for the media business.

Incumbent creative agency Strawberry Frog will not be repitching for the ad account. A spokeswoman for CGE&Y says: “The work Strawberry Frog did for us was project-based and we didn’t enter a long-term agreement.” The Amsterdam-based agency was appointed last April, the account having previously been handled by New York’s D’Arcy Masius Benton & Bowles.

Last summer, CGE&Y ran an international advertising campaign called “Defy the economy”, which anthropomorphised the economy. Posters featured slogans such as “Notice: I am in a bad mood and you are all coming with me. Thanks – The economy.” Strawberry Frog’s sister agency, Blueberry Frog, handled guerrilla marketing for the campaign, which included men in pinstripe suits walking around the City wearing clapboards with similar slogans written on them.

CGE&Y provides management consulting and computer services. It was established in May 2000, when Cap Gemini acquired Ernst & Young’s management consulting business. Last year, CGE&Y reported a loss of ââ¬514m (£353m) on revenue of E7.05bn (£4.85bn).
