Yahoo! appoints European chief

Yahoo! UK & Ireland marketing director Lindsay Biggart has been promoted to director of marketing for Yahoo! Europe.

Yahoo! UK & Ireland marketing director Lindsay Biggart has been promoted to director of marketing for Yahoo! Europe.

Martina King, managing director of country operations for Yahoo! Europe, had previously been responsible for advertising and marketing. She will now focus on streamlining the European business into strategic business units and increasing sales across the region. European marketing manager Yonca Dervisoglu will take over Biggart’s vacated position.

Biggart’s appointment is accompanied by an expansion of Yahoo! Europe’s marketing team to support the launch of new premium services and products, which customers pay for, this year.

The marketing service team, which looks after the online advertising business, has appointed Yahoo! Italy’s marketing director, Giulio Brunini, to the newly created position of head of marketing solutions. He will be responsible for promoting the use of online advertising to industry sectors.

Yahoo! Europe has also created a Centre of Excellence for online and direct marketing, which will be based in London. “We are trying to leverage learning from the US and each business unit better than we have done,” says Biggart. The company is recruiting a head of online and direct marketing to head the team.

Yahoo! has also recruited several senior marketers to head the marketing for each of its business units: consumer and network services, marketing, mobile phones and internet search engines. They will report to the head of each business unit.
