Everton first club to sell gas and electricity

Everton Football Club is set to sell gas and electricity to its fans following an affinity partnership deal with energy company Atlantic Electric & Gas. The gas and electricity product is likely to be branded as “Everton”.

The partnership deal will make Everton the first English football club to sell gas and electricity. It is understood that the gas and electricity products will initially be sold in Liverpool, Everton’s home city.

There has also been speculation that Manchester United will venture into selling gas and electricity, although a deal has yet to materialise.

Atlantic Electric & Gas’ selling proposition is that it aims to be the cheapest utility company, and it has attracted the attention of companies wanting to extend their brands by offering own-label electricity and gas to their customer base. A spokesman for the company says that the demand has been so great that it has appointed an affinity manager to handle and progress all partnerships.

Earlier this month, Atlantic signed an affinity deal with telecoms company Glow Communications (MW May 1). The company has 200,000 customers.
