The agency that nose no bounds

The Diary knew that the marketing profession had a reputation for shoving things up its nose, but things are getting beyond a joke. Look at these guys, snorting away on stage – dreadful behaviour. And those shirts! Has the modern marketer no dignity?

Well, it’s not quite as degenerate as it seems. This, ladies and gentlemen, is a scene from Mercier Gray’s tenth birthday bash the other day, and the nasal tonic is nothing stronger than brandy, being inhaled by agency bosses Rob Gray and Anton Mercier – usually it’s a staff initiation test.

That’s a relief then: rather than being in the charge of debauched dilettantes, it appears the industry is run by a bunch of overgrown students. The Diary despairs…
