Campbell Grocery Products has appointed former Proctor & Gamble marketer Peter Weider as European vice-president for marketing. His appointment forms part of Campbell’s plan to strengthen its marketing team ahead of a push into Europe.
Weider, who will take over on July 1, will be joined by Chuck Vila who has been promoted to European consumer and customer insight manager. He joins from Campbell’s US headquarters. Both positions are new and will be based in the European headquarters in Paris.
Meanwhile, UK sales director Peter Ellis has been promoted to European commercial director for exports and emerging markets. This is a new position and will involve developing new markets for the company’s portfolio, in August.
Weider was at P&G for 12 years and was most recently director of fabric care for central and Eastern Europe. He was responsible for the launch of Ariel washing tablets in Europe and for developing and launching new products in emerging markets. Vila has been with Campbell for ten years and has held a range of senior consumer and customer insight roles for North America and Asia Pacific.
The company has a number of different brands across Europe including Oxo in the UK, Ireland and Belgium, Liebig in France and Belgium, and Touch of Taste in Sweden and Finland.
The UK marketing department has undergone a restructure following the appointment of Tim Perman as marketing director last August. It recently appointed Annie Neal to the new post of category marketing director for Homepride (MW March 27).
