Hoover seeks marketer for new division

Hoover Candy Group is seeking a marketing director for its newly created major domestic appliances division following a reorganisation of the company.

The group has also created a small appliances division, which will be headed by UK sales and marketing director Joe Grech.

The marketing role for the major domestic appliances division, which includes the group’s white goods range such as Candy washing machines and refrigerators, is being overseen by group managing director John Morrisey.

The new position will not be as sales-focused as Grech’s role because the UK sales for the major domestic appliances division are handled by David Meyerowitz. The small appliances division includes Hoover vacuum cleaners.

The decision to restructure the group follows a review of the UK organisation by Italian parent company Candy Electro Domestici. It identified a split in the way major and small products are distributed, and decided to reorganise the business to reflect the variation.

The domestic appliances group has been making moves to streng-then its Hoover and Candy brands and has been undergoing a review of its European brands.

Candy Hoover has been pursuing a programme of dual branding with a view to replacing some lesser-known European brands with Hoover.

It has not ruled out dual branding its Rosieres built-in range, which is available in the UK.

A Hoover Candy spokeswoman says the company is not looking at reviewing its advertising, which is held by Bates across Europe, following the restructure.
