Just giving a little friendly advice

Embattled Australian financial services company AMP, which is trying to get rid of its UK operations after a dismal performance, has just launched “My Financial Friend”.

Offered by Towry Law, AMP’s independent financial adviser business, My Financial Friend offers financial advice to people in the workplace. It says that, too often, people only take advice when facing redundancy.

Towry Law says the top companies targeted will see “improved employee retention”, something that will no doubt be a great comfort to all the AMP staff laid off in the last couple of years as once-proud names such as Pearl and NPI have been hammered. This year alone, some 900 AMP staff have been made redundant.

Towry Law describes the service as unique in the corporate market. The Diary cannot disagree with the assessment, but wonders if perhaps the advice should be aimed in the opposite direction.
