From Motorhead to marketing head of Newspaper Society

Take a good long look at this bloke. Note the long, lank hair. The facial tattoos. The filthy leather jacket and the Jack Daniels-reddened eyes. This, ladies and gentlemen, is the legendary Russell Collier, former editor of Australian heavy metal bible Hot Metal!. Nowadays, he’s a hard-living groupie-magnet, currently touring the UK with hotly tipped up-and-coming outfit the, er, Newspaper Society.

Yes, Collier’s swapped the wild world Down (‘n’ dirty and) Under for a job as marketing director of an organisation dedicated to persuading advertisers to pay for space in the Airdrie & Coatbridge Advertiser and the Batley News.

Come to think of it, though, it’s the one organisation where throwing the TV out of the window is actively encouraged…
