Timberland loses senior UK marketing executive

Fashion brand Timberland has lost its most senior UK marketer Rachel Miranda after just over a year in the job. It is understood that she has left due to illness and it is not known if she is seeking a new role.

Timberland is seeking a replacement for Miranda, whose role was UK marketing manager, but has yet to appoint anyone. Miranda joined the brand in June last year (MW June 6, 2002) from Hush Puppies, where she was UK marketing manager for almost five years.

The brand appointed former Walt Disney Parks & Resorts director of marketing Pat Mitchinson as its European marketing director last month (MW July 24).

It is understood that Mitchinson will oversee Miranda’s marketing responsibilities until a replacement is found. Miranda replaced Sue Chidler, who left the company in February to join Levi Strauss as retail marketing director for Europe.

Mitchinson joined the brand with a brief to introduce a consistent marketing strategy across Europe. His appointment is part of a concerted move to develop a global brand. The global positioning campaign comes under the strapline “Seek Out”.
