…Slim-Fast to launch ready meal selection

Unilever-owned slimming brand Slim-Fast is launching a range of frozen ready meals which, for the first time, offer an evening meal choice to followers of the plan.

The range comprises six calorie- controlled meals, including a range of chicken and pasta dishes. It has been developed for Slim-Fast by Unilever Bestfoods brand Birds Eye.

The aim of the ready-meal range is to help people to stick to the Slim-Fast plan. The meals contain less than 400 calories and less than three per cent fat. They also have a low glycaemic index, which means they contain carbohydrates that are easily absorbed and give a steady release of energy.

The products arrive in stores this month and will be supported by a nationwide TV, print and in-store campaign early next year. The Slim-Fast range has already been extended this year, with the introduction of pasta dishes and meal kits to make it easier for slimmers follow the plan throughout the day.

The products follow the relaunch of Slim-Fast in June. The plan now encourages followers to eat six times a day, in order to avoid the energy highs and lows often experienced by dieters.
