Vizeum, part of the Aegis Group, has picked up Five’s &£5m media buying and planning account after a three-way pitch.
The agency pitched against MediaCom and incumbent Walker Media, which had held the account for five years.
Five director of strategy and marketing David Pullan oversaw the pitch, which was conducted in conjunction with the AAR.
Pullan says: “We chose Vizeum as we are looking to broaden our communications strategy and to develop further the creative thinking element of our media strategy.”
Vizeum will work alongside creative agency TBWA/London and below-the-line specialist The Promotions Factory on planning and strategy. Pullan appointed TBWA in place of Walsh Trott Chick Smith last year, shortly after his arrival at the channel from MTV Networks. Last autumn, Pullan oversaw a rebranding of the channel, which resulted in a name change from Channel 5 to Five and jettisoning the logo of a number 5 in a circle. Five also adopted a more sophisticated on-air look to reflect the fact that its programming had moved on from its early days when its focus was derided for being “football, films and fucking”.
