Hasbro marketer in move back to Weight Watchers

Hasbro marketing chief Melanie Stubbing is leaving the toy company to return to Weight Watchers.

Stubbing joined Hasbro UK in January 2001 as business head for toys and games, with responsibility for marketing in the UK. She was previously international vice-president at Weightwatchers.com (MW March 13, 2001).

She is returning to her former company, Weight Watchers, as vice-president operations.

Hasbro UK will restructure following Stubbing’s departure. She is not being replaced and the company’s two marketing directors, Carol Evans and Anna Chapman, will report to managing director Jonathan Harper.

Hasbro is about to launch a television advertising campaign for Action Man, wrapping up its Search for Dr X storyline. The campaign culminates with Action Man’s arch-enemy, Dr X, toppling off a tower and viewers are asked to vote by phone and website on whether Action Man saves the villain or lets him fall.

Hasbro’s MB Games brand sponsored the recently broadcast ITV1 evening show Celebrities Under Pressure (MW September 4). The idents, created by BMP DDB, featured a number of games including Buckaroo, Operation and Connect 4.

The show was hosted by Melanie Sykes and featured a number of celebrities living with families and carrying out challenges to win prizes.
