Revlon axes UK marketing team

Revlon has reshuffled its European management team in the wake of the departure of its UK marketing director Jill Carretero, who will not be returning to the company after maternity leave (MW September 25).

The cosmetics and toiletry company has scrapped a number of positions in order to fold its UK marketing into its European business. Chris Ellshaw, who joined from Procter & Gamble-owned Clairol as general manager for the UK and Ireland last July, has been appointed managing director for Europe.

Ellshaw has handed European marketing director Simon Worraker responsibility for the UK and Ireland marketing departments.

Worraker, who followed Ellshaw from Clairol in September last year, was previously responsible for the rest of Europe and international markets (MW September 5, 2002).

Ian McCarthy, who has been acting UK marketing director, will return to his position as marketing manager for Almay toiletries.

Worraker’s first responsibility will be a relaunch of the Almay toiletries range across Europe. Revlon appointed Wieden & Kennedy to handle its advertising account in May 2002 (MW May 9, 2002).
