Carlton boss lands top job at ITV

Carlton Media Sales director Gary Digby has been given the top sales job at Carlton and Granada’s merged sales operation, ITV Sales.

Digby, who will report to ITV Sales managing director Graham Duff, competed against his opposite number at Granada Enterprises, Simon Lent, as well as the managing directors of the two sales houses – Granada’s Simon Pardon and Carlton’s Steve Platt – for the post.

Pardon and Platt have yet to be given roles in the new structure and it is thought they will be among the many who are to lose their jobs as a result of the merger.

Granada’s Lent has been made London sales leader. He will also report to Digby and will have three agency account groups reporting to him.

Granada Enterprises operations director Jill Kerslake becomes director of sales operations while Andy Bagnall, Granada Enterprises planning director, becomes director of knowledge management. Both will report to Duff.

Last week, Carlton Screen Advertising chief executive Deborah Chalet became cinema director for ITV Sales (MW last week).

Duff is carrying out interviews with internal and external candidates for the fifth position under his responsibility – director of customer relationship management.
