Miles Calcraft Briginshaw Duffy is bringing Alan Whicker back to UK television screens with its first creative work for travel website Travelocity. The TV, radio and outdoor campaign shows Whicker, who pioneered world travel in his show Whicker’s World, popping up in unusual places either to ‘greet’ the country or congratulate holidaymakers on using Travelocity to book their trip. In one execution, he appears on a conveyor belt in a sushi restaurant in Japan to congratulate someone. He also appears in a wicker basket in Bordeaux to greet France. The strapline for the campaign is ‘Travelocity. Hello World’. The campaign aims to attract more 25- to 44-year-old frequent travellers to the website. It breaks on January 5.
