Welsh Assembly hunts agency for sex awareness campaign

The National Assembly for Wales is looking for an advertising agency to create a campaign to raise awareness about sexually transmitted infections (STIs).

The campaign will target 16- to 30-year-olds and highlight the dangers of STIs and the need to use a condom.

A spokesman for the Welsh Assembly says it plans to appoint an agency for the STI prevention campaign by the end of March.

Media planning and buying for the Welsh Assembly is handled by Bristol-based agency Riley’s.

Earlier this year, the Welsh Assembly appointed St Luke’s to create a multimedia awareness campaign to tackle voter apathy in Wales. The May 1 election campaign for the Welsh National Assembly was spearheaded by a television and radio campaign.

Separately, the Department of Health has launched a campaign about safe sex in England using an animated internet Christmas card. Delaney Lund Knox Warren created the campaign.

The internet Christmas card targets the over-18s. By adapting the lyrics of Christmas carol The 12 Days of Christmas, it warns of the dangers of having sex without a condom.
