Grey’s bulletin is a shot in the arm for staff relations

The last time Grey London featured in the Diary was when the agency’s staff took part in a Big Brother competition in the very house where the reality television show is filmed as part of a team-building exercise (MW October 2, 2003). However, the team-building doesn’t seem to have been too successful judging by an e-mail apparently sent to Grey employees by managing director Chris Hirst about the problem of bringing guns to work. The three-sentence message starts: “There are to be no guns used or even kept in this department/agency.” It continues: “Mothers Against Guns is a client of Grey London and it is a serious health and safety issue.” The message concludes: “Anybody found with a gun or any type of firearm on this premises will be severely reprimanded.” The Diary can only assume that the punishment would involve a firing squad.

So there you have it. The message is designed to keep client Mothers Against Guns (Is there a Mothers For Guns?) happy. As Grey has just created a press campaign for Slim-Fast, no doubt staff are awaiting an e-mail starting: “There are to be no fat people brought into this agency…”
