BBC Magazines makes Top Gear boss ad chief

BBC Magazines has promoted publishing director of Top Gear and BBC Good Food magazines Ashley Munday to the newly created role of ad sales director.

He will report to deputy managing director Nicholas Brett. All the ad directors and their sales teams will report to Munday.

The move follows the 2002 restructure of BBC Magazines’ ad sales into four groups: interests; Radio Times and Top Gear; women, youth and children; and the key customer group (MW October 10, 2002). The key customer group is responsible for sponsorship and client sales across all BBC titles.

The creation of the role has also changed the responsibilities of its publishing directors. Publishing director of Radio Times Marcus Arthur will also be responsible for the gardening and motoring titles. Jo Morrell, the publishing director of women’s title Eve and home titles, will have BBC Parenting and food titles added to her responsibilities. The food titles include BBC Good Food and new launch Olive.

Separately, BBC Magazines has acquired Origin Publishing – a Bristol-based publisher of 12 quality specialist consumer magazines such as Focus and Living History.
