Beauty and haircare giant L’Oréal has promoted international marketing chief Grita Loebsack to UK general manager with overall marketing responsibility for its flagship L’Oréal Paris brand.
Loebsack joins the UK division from her previous role as international marketing director for skincare in Paris. Loebsack replaces Sophie Gasperment, who was promoted to managing director of L’Oréal consumer and professional products last year, following Geoff Skingsley’s move to deputy director-general of global human resources.
Loebsack, who will report to Gasperment, has held various marketing positions for L’Oréal during her eight years with the company, including marketing zone director for the Latin American consumer division.
Loebsack will be responsible for leading a team of 130 and heading the marketing for key L’Oréal brands in the cosmetics, haircare and skincare markets. Most recently, L’Oréal Paris launched a rival brand to Clearasil called Dermo-Expertise Pure Zone (MW February 27, 2003).
L’Oréal Paris is best known for its iconic “Because I’m worth it” campaign, featuring celebrities such as Kate Moss and footballer David Ginola. L’Oréal’s roster agencies include McCann-Erickson and Publicis in the UK. Media is handled by Universal McCann.
