Eidos picks UK chief for Euro post

Computer gaming company Eidos has promoted its UK marketing director John Davis to the newly created role of European marketing director. The move follows a restructuring of its marketing team into two separate divisions to form a European brand marketing group and a UK marketing communications group.

The UK group will be overseen by UK marketing manager Carolyn London, who will take charge of all UK-specific marketing communications to trade and consumers.

Davis will be responsible for European brand marketing, setting global strategy on products developed outside the US. His department will also be involved in new development and market research.

Eidos suffered a blow last August when its title character Lara Croft was dropped from a long-standing association with Lucozade Energy, following disappointing sales figures of its latest Tomb Raider game.

Eidos is currently preparing the launch of a game named Hitman-Contracts, the third instalment of its Hitman franchise. The game will be released on April 27.
