Wyeth Consumer Healthcare marketing boss quits company

Wyeth Consumer Healthcare marketing director Mark Cooper has left the pharmaceutical company. It is not known whether he has a job to go to.

His departure comes in the middle of a review of the company’s £6m UK advertising business, held by Publicis. The company, which owns the Anadin brand, called the review earlier this year (MW February 19).

The pitch has been temporarily delayed pending the appointment of a new marketing director, who will head the review team.

The move is part of a wider review of Wyeth’s UK operation being carried out by new general manager John Smith, who joined the company late last year, following the retirement of David Beauchamp. Prior to joining Wyeth’s UK operation, Smith headed the business in Spain, Portugal, South Africa and Russia.

Previously category director for the nutritional division, Cooper was promoted to marketing director in 2002 (MW December 19, 2002). His promotion followed Ellie Hughes’ move to business development director, responsible for mergers and acquisitions.

Cooper was responsible for the appointment of Zenith Optimedia to Wyeth’s consolidated media planning and buying accounts, previously split between Zenith Optimedia and Mediaedge:CIA.

Wyeth’s other brands include Centrum, Chapstick, BiSoDol and Preparation H.
