The Department for Transport (DfT) has appointed Euro RSCG London to handle a &£1m advertising project to develop an online travel planning site, following a two-way pitch against WCRS.

This is the agency’s first assignment for the department, which spends &£15m annually on advertising and marketing. The agency already works for the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (ODPM), handling the &£2.5m fire-prevention campaign. The DfT and ODPM share the same agency roster.

A DfT spokesman says that the site is part of the Government’s plan “to provide a transport system that responds efficiently to the needs of individuals and businesses”.

Earlier this month, the department launched a cinema campaign to encourage drivers to switch off their mobiles when driving (MW March 4). The campaign was created by Abbott Mead Vickers.BBDO, with media through Carat.
