What happens when indie boys grow up

You can’t keep a greying indie boy away from the sound of jagged guitars, and so it proved at a recent British Sea Power gig. The Diary’s periscope spied ITV Sales managing director Graham Duff, former Carlton Media sales chief Martin Bowley, RAB chief executive Douglas McArthur and agency heads Mark Cranmer (Starcom) and David Pattison (PHD) – or reasonable facsimiles thereof. What they made of the stage-diving and the giant bear battling with the guitarist while images of sand dunes were projected behind is not known – maybe they were just dreaming about a lost youth of dry ice, eyeliner and lots of hair gel. Or, horror of horrors, a surprise guest band at the next TV conference?
