PepsiCo continues marketing overhaul

Cadbury Trebor Bassett (CTB) innovations chief Monique Carter is to join PepsiCo in a senior role as part of the drink and snack giant’s restructure.

Carter, who held the position of portfolio manager of innovation at CTB, is expected to take a senior marketing role and her name has been linked with that of marketing director of its snacks portfolio, which includes the Doritos and Monster Munch brands.

It is not clear whether this will affect marketing director for snacks and innovations Vinita Pandey, and evening snacking marketing director is Jonathan Goldstone.

At CTB, Carter worked on new product development across all confectionery brands and reported to marketing director Louise Cooke.

PepsiCo has been overhauling its marketing departments and last week appointed Will Ghali to the position of marketing director for Tropicana (MW last week). He was formerly marketing director at Nutricia.

Tropicana and Quaker marketing director Caroline Diamond takes the same position at the Pepsi soft drinks division. Karen Goffe, former Pepsi director, is the new Quaker marketing director. Walkers Crisps marketing director Carol Garbutt was appointed last September (MW September 4, 2003).

The crisps and snacks market has been hit by bad publicity over healthy eating and obesity. Sales of 60g bags of crisps and nuts dropped in value from £318m to £283m in the year to February.

MP Debra Shipley brought her Children’s Food Bill as a Private Members Bill before Parliament yesterday with the aim of banning promotion and advertising of “unhealthy” foods to children.
